Our purpose

Our purpose is to grow nutritious, tasty, high quality certified organic food for our community. Six years ago, we were new to farming and new to Sooke! We have learned a lot about our soil, compost-making, growing, irrigation, and the land we live on since then. We have invested in three solar-powered pumps for irrigation, built three polytunnels, use an electric powered farm cart for hauling and harvesting and now have about 2 acres under cultivation at two different sites on our farm.

Our focus has always been on building the soil.  We use farm-produced compost and minimize digging to encourage soil biology to thrive.  We use only natural ingredients in our fertilizers and no sprays of any kind on our crops.  These practices are paying off. We have constant feedback that the taste of our vegetables is amazing and we get great yields of a wide range of crops.

We bring our produce to the Sooke Country Market every Saturday from the end of April until the middle of October. Our CSA box program runs from April to the end of October, We also supply Daniels Market with some of our certified organic produce. Our farmstand is open every Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM most of the year. Our fresh flower bouquets are sold at the market every Saturday and can be made to order. We also offer flowers for special occasions such as weddings. In the Spring we have certified organic vegetable starts for sale, as well as garden plants.

We enrolled to become certified organic in 2020 when we started our Farm, and received full certification in January 2023.

At Longmeadow Farm our intention is to work in harmony with nature and be good stewards of the land. We appreciate the land for what it gives us and enjoy our work producing tasty food!
